what is the difference of the polynomials? (–2x3y2 + 4x2y3 – 3xy4) – (6x4y – 5x2y3 – y5) This is a topic that many people are looking for. secret-life.org is a channel providing useful information about learning, life, digital marketing and online courses …. it will help you have an overview and solid multi-faceted knowledge . Today, secret-life.org would like to introduce to you What is the definition of a monomial and polynomials with examples. Following along are instructions in the video below:
In this case legend gentlemen. We have a monomial in a and a polynomial nathan nathan nathan nathan. No no this is not the time.
So basically i just want go over like some examples. Least like define what a monomial. Upon mu are and then kind of go over some examples.
Because thats what were going to be discussing so forth. So far all right so a monomial is basically a number a variable or the product of a number and variable now that could be product of two you know one or more or i should probably say product of a number of of i should probably say one or more okay because in reality. You dont you could have more than one.
But were only going to really were only going to be considering monomials. Where theres a number times a variable or a variable just a variable by itself or an orange just a number by itself. But technically you could have more than one variable.
Were just going to deal with one variable at the time. So a polynomial and a very basic definition is just the sum of it is basically the sum of one or well really two or more variables.
Im sorry. Some of two or more monomials okay. And thats really it so.
Lets just kind of go over some examples example. Five example x to the fourth power example negative one half x. Cubed does everybody see how those are either number a variable or the product of a number and a variable right were not going to talk about these today.
But this is also a monomial if you have two or more. If you have two variables or more than two variables. Were not going to discuss them though this in chapter.
But just a little fyi. Some polynomials. Oh i should do some non examples.
Yeah well there was some panelist. Some polynomials example well weve talked about weve gone over some polynomials for instance.
A quadratic is a polynomial so what we just discussed last class period is an example of a polynomial. So those are polynomials you could also have negative three x to the seventh plus five. So you could have a polynomial raised to that okay a couple things that are not polynomials coupled non examples is one.
We cannot have when were looking at powers powers. Cannot be rational nor can there be negative. So a non example.
I dont really know i dont even see this in your own work. But its good to have in your notes. Polynomials.
Cannot be rational or your powers. Cannot be rational therefore x. To the one half plus three x squared.
Thats not a polynomial you cannot have that to the one half power okay and well talk about that more another non exam is you cant have the powers of your exponents cannot be negative. So therefore you couldnt have 2 3 x.
To the fifth plus 3x to the negative fourth. You cant have negative powers. Okay and the reason being is i dont want to go too far in advance with you guys i just want you to kind of write them down because i dont were not going to be so concerned about whats a polynomial.
Whats not a polynomial. But the rational which well learn later this year. Produces a root and the negative again which well go over later this year produces a variable in the denominator.
But i just wanted to present this to you again. The non examples is not very important so dont stress out really about this. But i want to present it to you because we are going to be start learning.
This stuff main thing is guys know what a polynomial looks like and just note you cannot have rational powers or negative powers. If you also just want to kind of remember you cant have square roots those are not part of polynomials. No could you nor could you have variables in the denominator.
Okay just a little fyi anybody have any questions so far okay. .
